Frequently Asked Questions

Is It Painful?
Most people experience some discomfort, however there are different methods available to help with pain management including various topical anesthetic ointments and gels.  Most clients happily report that it was not painful at all, but a bit stressful due to the unknown.

How Long Does The Procedure Take?
The initial procedure will generally take 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  Touch up procedures usually don't require as much time.

Are There Any After Or Side Effects?
Generally, there is some swelling of the treated area. While eyebrows may show little after effect, eyeliner and lips may show more and swelling may last one to two days.  During the procedure there may be some bleeding and/or bruising.  There is usually some tenderness for a few days.

When Can I Return To Work?
Icing is important and perhaps the use of an anti-inflammatory. Healing time varies with each individual, but most return to work the next day. Some people look as if they have been crying after the eyeliner procedure.  Compliance with your after care will also decrease any side effects or risks of infection after a permanent cosmetic procedure.

I'm Allergic To Most Makeup, Especially Eye Makeup. Will Permanent Cosmetics Be Safe For Me?
Absolutely!  Many women choose permanent eyeliner as the solution to their sensitive eyes.  Say "goodbye" to watery, runny eyes and smeary makeup forever!! However a patch test (a scratch of dye behind the ear) is recommended to rule out allergies.

How Long Does Permanent Cosmetics Last?
Permanent cosmetics are permanent in that you will always have a permanent marking on your skin.  However, over time you will notice a gradual softening of color occurring each year.  Many women feel that this is advantageous, as they feel that their permanent cosmetics will age with them.
"Color Enhancements" are recommended for those who wish to keep their permanent cosmetics looking fresh as possible.  Generally, a brightener is required every 2-5 years or so, depending on color, individual body chemistry, and lifestyle.
